I think that placing an ad in the Toronto Star Life and Entertainment section would be a good way to advertise the restaurant. These days not many teenagers read the newspaper, but that wouldn't really matter much since the target market is working age people. I have seen the Toronto Star have an article about a new restaurant in Toronto, so there could be an article like that.
Direct Mail
A lot of people throw away junk mail, but usually scan through it to see if there are any good deals or new openings. I think that even people who hate getting junk mail like knowing about new restaurants opening around them, and some even try them out. Even though direct mail is sort of pricey, but advertising companies can be sure that they will reach the people.
Billboard
A billboard ad is substantially cheaper than some other types of advertising, such as internet advertising. So many people drive cars nowadays, who would glance up and read the billboard. But the thing is you can only look at the ad for a matter of seconds before it disappears. So you have to be smart about what you put on the ad. A good idea would be to put the restaurant's best-selling dish, and the name of the business, so people can look it up once they get home.
Television Commercial
Although it can be pricey, but it is still the most powerful form of advertising, and is effective because it reaches a very wide audience. A lot of the time, food advertisement's get people's attention, which makes them curious about the restaurant. Television ads would give our restaurant personality, because it's an opportunity to be creative and there would be a way to connect with customers. A clever television ad could get the restaurant a lot of attention.
